I know it is the middle of winter - and we are just past the shortest day - but what better time to be dreaming about some balmy summers evenings, enjoying the last of the days sun, as you sip away on a cold drink, and look forward to your horse running in the 7.45! We have had such fun with a handful of summer jumpers in the past - not least Kikos, who took us all over the country - that I have decided to put together another Partnership, to buy and run a summer jumper this year. The Partnership will be made up of 7/9 members, with a capital expenditure of up to £3,000 each, plus (up to) £280/month training fee. It will not surprise you to know that I have already begun the search for a suitable horse - and have even made enquiries about likely candidates already. I will be purchasing a 3 yr old from the flat, with size and scope, and a pedigree that I think will be well suited to 2m juvenile hurdles from June onwards. The horse will be purchased, and then have a few weeks at The Elms to develop before going into training in March. The trainer has yet to be decided, but will be based in the Midlands, as most of the courses that host jumps racing between June and October are in that area. The plan at present is to run the Partnership through until Autumn 2021. thus getting 2 summers of fun out of whatever we purchase, but as with all of my Partnerships, there will be no official termination date, and things will be decided along the way. In addition - I will also be starting another of our investment syndicates this year. We have three up and running at present, with considerable investments in some very good looking, and beautifully bred bloodstock. In 2019 we sold our first 3 yr olds, and they were very well received - they all sold very well, and the purchasers have all been in touch to say how happy they are with them. They have gone to some top class homes, and they are horses you will all hear a great deal about in the future. This year we have stock to sell by sires such as Saddler Maker, Crillon, Coastal Path a In the meantime we have been purchasing some fantastic foals and yearlings by such sires as Sea The Moon, Authorized, Masked Marvel, Kayf Tara, Coastal Path and the list goes on.
