Sunday 9 May

It has been one of the coldest and driest springs on record, which has led to some very tardy grass growth, and a delay in getting a lot of the horses out on their summer holidays. This week we saw a few more of them finally meet up with their new and old mates in the fields at The Elms Stud. Go Millie Go was 'released' after being kept in for a few extra days to monitor her having run her final race of last season on ground that she found a bit lively for her. In this scenario we are always careful to make sure that all is well with their precious tendons before they go out, and if there are any problems, they can be dealt with at the earliest possible stage. Hidden Beauty had been delayed by a stone bruise, but she too is now out in the field and has joined Auditoria in the same paddock. Queenohearts and Blue Bikini are also out in the field at The Elms. Those that remain in their stables - and with the recent cold spell they are probably grateful for it, are: Classic Ben who remains at Fences Farm under the vet, Volkovka and Mini remain with Jason Maguire. The Mamool 3 yr old is also out at The Elms enjoying a summer break before heading to Fergal O'Brien in July. The only one we have in training at the moment is Yauthym, who has had a good break after her last run in Market Rasen ( form of that race has really worked out), but does have 2 entries this week in Worcester and Perth. We have very limited share options for next season at this stage- at Fences Farm we have a 10% share in Classic Ben, and a number of shares available in Blue Bikini. With Fergal O'Brien shares in most of the team are sold out, but there is just 1 10% share in the unraced and unnamed 3 Mamool gelding, and one 4% lease share has also become available in Mini. Currently all share options with Olly Murphy (Auditoria) are sold out. Please email me on nickbrownracing@gmail.com for further info on any of our available shares. I also have a waiting list for another syndicate - and we will be adding more horses to the squad over the summer, but as always we are very careful in what we take on - and wait for the right horse to come to us - again get in touch of you would like to be added to the list of interested parties in a new one! 07909 518902. There is likely to be at least one unraced and unnamed 3 yr old added to the team along with another from France. I have orders for a few from that sphere, so seem to spend most of my time trawling through the French Form book - I certainly watch far more French flat racing than English. This time next week we will be in Doncaster for their 4 day spring sale which begins a week tomorrow. We sell two lovely horses on the first day - a Telescope half brother to Gold Cup winner Sizing John, and a Camelot full sister to the Grade 1 hurdler Gardens Of Babylon. Both are lovely horses, and I am really looking forward to the sale. The two geldings that are travelling to Fairyhouse in June for the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale have begun their prep, they too are gorgeous individuals with great pedigrees - we have a very strong bunch to offer this year! Barry the foal is also going great guns - he is piling on the pounds and is thriving. He is a superb individual and his syndicate of owners are very lucky!
