Sunday 12 September

Another good week behind us. Sales were busy - with fantastic trade at all three. The yearling trade in Newmarket on Tuesday was nothing less than mind blowing, with vendors expressing amazement at the level of footfall over the course of the sale. Doncaster was strong too - with plenty of buyers there, and Yorton finished off the week with their best set of figures. On the home front - new girl 'Betty' arrived from Ireland on Thursday. She is a lovely filly, and has settled on really well with Jason Maguire. She is a well made 4 yr old, by Westerner, and is a half sister to two horses rated in the 140's. She was broken and did plenty of work back in Ireland in the spring - so the ground work has already been done with her, and we can crack straight on. She will pre train with Maguire before heading off into training with Fergal O'Brien. She has been really well received and remaining shares are now limited. With no upfront costs, and a fixed all inclusive fee of £25/wk, she is terrific value for a filly with her pedigree. Please get in touch for more info. nickbrownracing@gmail.com. 07909 518902. The Soldier Of Fortune filly has now gone out in the field for a short break at Ivy Lodge Farm. There are now just a couple of shares left in her - she is a filly we like a lot. Volkovka continues to pre train there, and is in rude health. She really wants to get on with life! Updates form all the yards this week. Go Millie Go is moving well with Edmunds. Olly Murphy sent a clip through of Auditoria schooling for the first time this season. She is a filly that really loves her jumping, and relished bending her back again. The horses in with Fergal O'Brien continue to progress very nicely. The last share in the Mamool will be sorted out tomorrow, and we will crack on and name him this coming week. He is a real character and a yard favourite already - thankfully he seems to have a decent level of ability to go with his good looks and character - so he a horse we are really looking forward to seeing him next month! With a bit of luck we will have a lot of fun with him in bumpers this autumn. Another who we are looking forward to seeing in bumpers this autumn is Hidden Beauty. I got one of those calls I love to get on Friday, when Sally called with a glowing report of her. There have been some very positive vibes coming from Ravenswell Farm about Hidden Beauty since she did her one and only piece of work in the spring, and it now looks as though she benefitted hugely from the experience, and has taken another big leap forward. The way head man Kev speaks of her suggests that she could be a filly that we hear an awful lot about in the future! She is very exciting! Yauthym looks like being our first runner of the autumn season, and is in great form, as is Blue Bikini who is now ulcer free after some rigorous treatment since arriving at Ravenswell Farm. She will be scoped again next week to confirm that that is still the case, as she will only perform to the best of her ability if she isn't suffering any discomfort, but the signs are at this stage that she is very much on the right track. She looks really well in herself and is going very well. She will make her hurdling debut next month. Time rolls round so quickly, and the Camelot 3 yr old filly will soon be heading back into work. Her return is planned for the middle of next month, and I am sure that Jason will be blown away by her physique - she is a gorgeous big filly, and as Olly Murphy said to me last week, she is a filly he is very much looking forward to training! Time really does fly - it seems just yesterday that myself and Timon of Studio 5 sat down and designed our website. Well lots have changed - not least with Timon, who left Moulsoe a number of years back and now resides in Arazona! He has been badgering me to get my act together and get the old and very dated website redesigned for a number of years - we were about to get the ball rolling when Covid hit, so we shelved plans, but I'm glad to say we are now on it. Laragh De Burgh, and Debbie Burt have been busy taking lots of photos over the summer and the first look at the new design is very impressive. The new site will be mobile friendly, and we may well incorporate a members only area, along with an App. Everything that should enhance the ownership experience, and make take communication to a different level again. It is not before time!
