Ready To Go

As the leaves take on a more golden hue, it means the season proper is only just around the corner. Thankfully the weather has managed to play ball for once - last week it forgot that June was 3 months ago, and we had a gorgeous spell of sunny and warm weather while we were down in Cornwall, and our trip up to the North East at the end of the week was done in glorious sunshine as well. Back now, and all ready to go for what I believe is our most exciting season yet. We have some lovely new additions to the squad - and a nice bunch of horses that will have learned a lot from last season and will have benefitted from a summers break. I can't wait to get going!

Thankfully we don't have to wait long, with both Blue Bikini and Yauthym having entries in Warwick this week. Blue Bikini will be making her hurdling debut, having switched from Stuart Edmunds to Fergal O'Brien. She is working well, and has schooled great - so it looks like the right time and place to start her season off. Yauthym has had a wee break and is entered in the mares handicap hurdle. She ran very flat the last day, but seems back in fine form at home, and we are looking forward to seeing her out again. Still down at Ravenswell - The 3 yr old Mamool gelding is finally named. He is now called Mamoon Star - He is a very exciting prospect, and will hopefully make his racecourse debut next month.

The trainer certainly likes him! Hidden Beauty is another one that looks very exciting, and she will be ready to run when there is plenty of juice in the ground. Volkovka is in the form of her life - she will have appreciated her break, and is absolutely popping a cork! She too will be ready to run when there is plenty of juice in the ground. The team at Fences Farm are in superb form, with a terrific double at the weekend in Market Rasen. Stuart reports Go Millie Go to be in good form - she will be ready to run in a couple of weeks, and will switch to chasing this year. Classic Ben has started to do a little cantering every other day and is well. Olly Murphy also has his string in good form, and the winter horses are now only a couple of weeks off a run. He sent through a video update last week, in which he reiterated how happy he was with Auditoria, and how much he was looking forward to getting going with her in the near future. She has schooled well, and will be ready to go when there is a nice bit of juice in the ground.

We will look for a suitable novice/maiden hurdle for her - but she does have a handicap mark, and could run in a handicap if the other races do not look suitable - it should be a fun season with her! At Jason Maguires - Queenohearts is really well, and looks a million dollars, she will return to full training this week. The new Soldier Of Fortune Filly has certainly enjoyed the recent weather, as she is out in the field on a short break. She looks fantastic, and Jason is really happy with her. The Westerner filly continues to progress, and is going the right way. Back at the Elms - the horses are all well.

The Camelot Filly will return to Ivy Lodge Farm in the next couple of weeks, and begin her life as a proper racehorse. She will pre train there before heading to 'big school' with Olly Murphy, who can't wait to get his hands on her. Barry the foal has been weaned and is enjoying the adolescent life with his mates - his yearling full brother Frank is really coming together and it looks like he will make up into a super looking horse! His 2 yr old half brother 'Dean' is a bonny chap as well, and he will be syndicated next spring. He will follow the same route as Mamoon Star, and be aimed at Junior Bumpers next year! Their pedigree is only getting better - and they are a bunch of exciting siblings - their mum Savingforvegas has really done us proud! She is in foal to Falco this time!

The new web-site is coming along really well. It looks stunning - not before time! It will work really well on a mobile platforms, and will have a number of new features. The copy will be re written to reflect the changes we have made over the course of the last couple of years, and there will also be a members area where clients, owners and members can log in to see extra info about their horses. Really looking forward to getting going now!!
