Tuesday 9 September

Interesting to see on the news this morning, that stable staff from outside the EU are deemed necessary to the workings of the Country in the eyes of the immigration department. It has been very evident at the races over the last few years that more and more stable staff are not 'homebred'. At Fences farm, they are very fortunate to have a very dedicated, young (except Stuart) and ambitious team of riders and stable staff to care for, and manage the horses. Everyone who comes to the yard comments on the fabulous atmosphere there is about the place, and I am sure this all contributes to the relaxed way in which the horses go about their work. Again the rain continues to fall, but as mentioned before it does mean that all of the horses have had some extensive schooling sessions just lately, and are all performing very well - the biggest problem at this time of year is usually the schooling, as the ground is often to firm, but this year it has been perfect. I keep reading reports of all these stable open days that seem to be so popular at this time of year, and thought that maybe I should do the same, as we have shares for sale in a number of horses, but instead, if anyone is interested in coming to see the horses and the yard I would rather show them around on a more intimate one-to-one basis, which I hope would be more preferable. Just call me to arrange a time.
