Thursday 18 September
Yesterday morning all the horses cantered and schooled. Important Business, despite doing a fair bit of work on Tuesday was full of himself, Alice does a fine job of keeping the partnership intact, as it is not easy!! In the afternoon it was our pleasure to welcome Ben Turner and Jay Tabb to Fences Farm to meet the horses, and see around the place. Ben and Jay are both first team players for Coventry City, and are really keen on their racing, Jay loves his horses, and Ben could put most people to shame with his knowledge of the form book!! We paraded Bobby Gee, Important Business, Rousing Rob and Kikos for the lads and they really enjoyed themselves. We hope to be able to welcome them back to Fences at some stage, they were a pleasure to have about. All seems A1 for the weekend, the ground is drying up which will suit our runners, just a slight doubt about Matty, he is only 50:50 to get in due to the number of entries, but lets hope we do as he seems to be in really good form.
LATE JOCKEY NEWS: Both Sam and Jamie will be going to Plumpton to ride for their Father and Boss respectively, so Jimmy McCarthey will take the ride on Important Business. Jimmy rode him on his debut in a bumper at Wincanton when he was second to I'msingingtheblues, and he liked him a lot, so it will be good to get the partnership back together again.
