Monday 22 September

A good day yesterday was followed by an equally good evening, a bite to eat and home to watch recordings of the runs. Ogee was impressive, and hopefully he will get a lot of confidence from that and go on to bigger and better things. Important Business was as tired as I have ever seen a horse after a race. He really was done in, he certainly gave us 110% and will have a little break now before trying to go that one better. His form is so solid, and he is just so unlucky to run into one too good. He has now run 7 times and finished second on no less than 4 occasions, beaten a total of less than 4 lengths. How unlucky can a horse be!!?? The really good news is that both horses seem to have come out of their race OK and are spending the day relaxing with the sun on their backs in the paddock, although 'relaxing' for Important Business involves walking around and around and definitely NOT realxing! The racing post were very complimentary about the yards performance yesterday, Will O'Hanlon wrote the following: OGEE ENHANCES ROBESON'S ENVIABLE RECORD - Renee Robeson who boasts a 26% strike rate with her runners at the course, further improved her track record when Ogee took the 2m 4 1/2f novice hurdle, the 2-1 favourite skipping clear under Jimmy McCarthy to beat Last Flight by 15 lengths. Robeson had waited until inspecting the track before confirming Ogee a starter, and her judgement in allowing the son of Generous to run was handsomely vindicated. 'I tend to be very protective of my horses and hate to see the word 'firm' in the ground description,' she said.'But I was pretty sure, given their record here at Uttoxeter, that everything would be fine when we got here, and it was.' 'Ogee will go chasing in time, but he'll stay hurdling this season and will be kept on the go now, having returned from his summer break.' The trainer had high hopes of completing a double with Important Business in the 2m 4 1/2f handicap hurdle, but the five year old found one too good in the Tom George - trained favourite Lord Ryeford who got home by half a length under a strong ride from Paddy Brennan. Let us hope we can get it right next time. Mattaking is entered for a handicap hurdle at Southwell on Friday, and Kikos will be in a Handicap Chase at Market Rasen at the weekend. We will study the fields and make decisions about their participations later in the week, I will keep you all posted.
