Saturday 4 October
Breezy in more ways than one this morning! There was a pretty chill wind at the top of the hill all morning, and Troglodyte did his final breeze before his intended run at Uttoxeter. He is an intended runner tomorrow if the forecast rain arrives as he would not want the ground too quick, but the Clerk of the course assures us that it will be soft ground by the time of the first race and so it looks like we will be heading back to that happiest of hunting grounds. Trogs breezed in company with Rousing Rob who is back on song and went really well upsides, in fact it was a real job to keep him level with Trogs as he just wanted to get on with things a bit! Also out first lot were Kikos who is A1 and will school again on Monday and if all is well we will then look for his next race. Important Business and Bobby Gee both did one canter. Second lot, and we had a few owners up the top. Bob Graham and Alan Gibson unfortunately missed their boys who were out first lot but they had a good time anyway along with Karen Barber who was in to see Mattaking do a fine piece of work. It was good to see John the fences Farm Farrier bring his partner and son up to see the horses work - it was his day off and he dreaded a horse loosing a shoe so he put his kit in the car just in case!!
