Todays efforts at Towcester go down in the Failed Eperiments file. First up Ogee who was dropping back to 2 miles in a very decent Novices Hurdle, and unfortunately this was his undoing. He finished a very close third, with a big gap to a decent horse of Jonjo's, and although Ogee was the beaten favourite I think the first three are very good horses and it would be wise to keep on the right side of them all. The step back in trip was the only thing that beat Ogee and he will pick up the winning thread again when stepped back up to 2 1/2 miles plus. Mattaking also goes in the failed file as well, as we tried to hold him up, and help him finish his race, but unfortunately Matty found this far from helpful and resented being in the rough and tumble, and did not chose to exert himself until the runners had fanned out a little, running on, after being second last turning for home to finish ninth. We will have to resort to previous tactics of setting the pace and keeping this obviously claustrophic boy out of the ruck. The two seem fine on returning home tonight. Kikos schooled again today and went well, Rousing Rob caused some concern when he went lame but seems fine again now - after another big vets bill! Bobby went for a walk and a trot around the farm after pulling a muscle in his quarters, he will remain on light exercise for another 10 days and then resume work, and Important Business just ripped Alices arms out all the way to the top of the gallop - he is flying at the moment.
