Saturday 6 december
Not the fog of last weekend, and it was a really good morning at Fences Farm. The sun shone and the horses all looked really well.First lot pulled out with Stuart looking decidedly unwell after a late night out at a Hunt party!! Kikos and Important Business worked well together, although Kikos had a good blow as it was his first serious piece of work since his run 2 weeks ago. Important Business was his usual self and will have entries at Doncaster next weekend where the ground is currently Good (no rain needed)!! Bobby Gee will now not go to Leicester on Wednesday as a routine scope yesterday, showed him to have a touch of a sore throat, and he has been put on medication which seems to have had an instant effect as he was back in flying form this morning, Rachael did relly well to hold him (see pic).It is great that he is back on song, just a shame that his recovery will take us up to Christmas, but he should be back on track between Christmas and the new year. Rock Wren continues to recover from the injuries he sustained last season and is moving well. After breakfast it was good to see Alan Gibson who came in to see his horses. He saw Daurica go well with Troglodyte, she will have her second bumper run at Ludlow on Thursday - she seems to have improved from her first effort when she was very green. Mattaking moved well with a few others who included Heebie Jeebie who prooved to be Rachael's second difficult ride of the morning - I think her arms are now twice as long as they were on Friday night!! Third lot was the turn of E Major to do his first proper piece of work for some time, and he went really well, he will have an entry in the next week. There are now 2 places available in The Chicheley Partnership, so if you are struggling for a Christmas present and know somone that would like to have a share in a really nice racehorse for £40/week until May 1st 2009, then give me a call on 07909 518902! He worked along side Bareyna, who lokked very impressive herself, her debut will not be long. Michael Kehoe brought some of his string to work third lot and they all went well, so all in all a really good morning - beautiful weather, and healthy horses - what more could you want!! Incidentally, Ogee seems A1 after his run yesterday. I thought it was a good performance in that company, and could not work out why he was the outsider of the 7. He ran right up to his mark, and a lot of thought will have to go into where he goes next. His jumping will have to get better again, but in mitigation he had missed a refresher late in the week due to frost, so that may be the reason. He is a real credit to Mrs Robeson and her team.
