Slightly disappointing from Kikos yesterday, who just did not get in any sort of rythmn in his race, and as a result jumped very poorly the whole way round. I have never race ridden and therefore feel that I am not in a position to be critical of a ride, but I do listen to people that know, and they tell me that sometimes you just meet every obstacle on the perfect stride and sometimes they just come at you all wrong and I think that yesterdays performance firmly fell in the latter bracket. Poor Sam just met everything wrong, and because we had told him to keep hold of the horse, he was left with no option but to go short at every fence which resulted in no rythmn and a very poor round of jumping. There are positives to come from the outing though. Kikos did at least seem to stay every yard of the trip, and was seen to far better effect on the better ground, as he was only beaten 12 lengths into fifth. He has come out of the race well, although he did lose a front shoe on the way round. As we move into the spring and the summer he will be seen in a better light, and Sam will also be up to school him. Not a great result , but it was a fun day at Leicester, and all of the members of the club that went had a good time. It is now onwards to Sunday and Huntingdon where E Major Mattaking and Bahreyna should all have a spin.
