Thursday 18 June
I really hope the handicapper was asleep, on holiday or just having a day at Royal Ascot yesterday!! If he was, then he may have missed Free Gift winning at Worcester. Free Gift was third (1 length) behind Kikos at Huntingdon, and with the winner, third and fifth out of that race all winning the form looks really strong. The troule is poor old Kikos could well find himself being lumbered with hike up the weights, with his revised mark being published just before the weights for his next run at Uttoxeter are out! I really hope that Yeats can win a fourth Gold Cup today - he is a true champion and a great stayer. Good luck to all those involved in Ffos Las, the Uk's newest racecourse that opens its doors for the first time tonight. It looks lie a proper track, with every effort having been put in to ensure a quality racing surface and public friendly enclosures. With the white elephant that is Great Leighs still large in the memory I hope this venture has a great deal more success - but then it looks as though the Welsh have done this well, not like the Essex Boys!
