Sunday 28 June

What a great day at Uttoxeter - fantastic weather, a huge crowd of 18,000, and a fine run from Kikos who led all the way in the 2 mile handicap chase. A large number of club members turned out and were al thrilled with the win. We always knew that we had to make use of Kikos's stamina over this minimum trip, and Sam hit the gates running. Jumping with his usual zest Kikos was never headed although it did look like David Pipes Star Of Germany was travelling much the better up the straight Kikos pinged the last to go on to a well earned 4 length victory. It was a super ride from Sam and I was as pleased for him as for the horse as they both deserved this win. Kikos is not the easiest of horses to ride, and today Sam did it perfectly. A special mention for a few members of the Club - it was a very Happy Birthday for Clive France who was celebrating with a winner, and to Ollie Creswell who has just bought a share in Kikos ,but unfortunately could not get to the races today, but will be having a few drinks on the back of his first winner when he celebrates his birthday tomorrow. Kikos also did Emma Conlisk the honour of obliging on her first visit to the races as an owner, so all in all a great day!! Well done to all the team at Fences Farm.
