Wednesday 3 February
Last night I took a good look at the long range weather forecast, as that time of year fast approaches when we start to turn some wheels in the fields, and I am sorry to say that it does not look too good for racing over the course of February. A band of sleet and snow today, rain for the next few days, and then from next week a big anticyclone sits over Greenland and Scandinavia funnelling cold northerly air down over us. So, apart from the rest of this week, it looks like staying very frosty for the forseeable future - bad news for all the horses that need a prep run for Cheltenham, and oddly, even worse for the point to pointers whos season is already short amd getting shorter! Despite these cold conditions I would like to offer a warm welcome to Bob Graham who has joined the Oakley Partnership, and now owns a share of Bobby Gee (Bob Graham owning Bobby Gee - they were made for each other)!! Bob has been with us for a couple of years, and has enjoyed some great days with Kikos, and hopefully he will be back in the winners enclosure in no time with his namesake! There is now only a 1/8 share left in Bobby Gee so get in touch quickly if you would like a share. Talking of Kikos - he is off to the vets today, for them to have a good look at him. He seems sound in his stable now, and hopefully his problem was just an infection, but we will know more today when the bandage is removed.
