Saturday 20 February

Slight fun and games at Fakenham yesterday before the bumper. Genny Wren obviously enjoyed her first day at the races and got very excited. She decanted Richie in the paddock, breaking his tooth in the process, and cantered across the parade ring to her mate Grassfinch. Jimmy Mac who was on Grassfinch had a very nerous moment and jumped off quickly to escape 'the thick of the action', leaving Trish standing holding on to both Genny and Grassfinch!! Genny was soon reunited with Richie, and after that all went well. Genny was a little disappointing, but purely got stuck in the ground, and Grassfinch kept on plugging away to finish second. It was not the strongest of bumpers (although the winner heads to the final), but still a pleasing debut for both. Good to see Ray Webb today, who along with regular Ollie, came up to see Kikos resume cantering. Kikos looks amazing and seems to be stronger this year, so hopefully there is a bit of improvemnet in him. Bobby cantered and then when the ground was fit he went and had a pop over the fences. He is in great form ahead of his intended run on Monday.Ogee has an entry at Southwell, and Rock Wren was very eyecatching in his work ahead of his run next week.
