Friday 23 April

The legend that is Kikos won again last night at Uttoxeter. The five declarations became 3 when two runners were withdrawn, so the task was made slightly easier, but it was still to be a tricky tactical affair. With the absence of any other front runners in the field Kikos was allowed an easy lead and Sam gave him a peach of a ride from the front. Starting off steadily as we knew that he would benefit from the run, he gradually wound it up down the back, and kicked for home off the home turn. He jumped the final 3 fences in some style and was in a share of the lead when Master Nimbus fell at the last leaving our boy to come home unchallenged. It was good to see Master Nimbus get up, but Sam thought he would have had a real battle to get past our boy! A great run, and knowing that Kikos was not match fit, it means that there should be a bit of improvement to come! We have really seen both ends of the emotional spectrum this week with Jardin De Viennes unfortunate fall when bang there on Wednesday we were all in our boots, but yesterday we went back up to cloud nine! Great to see 32 members of the club there to see the win, which was a first for a few, and a day they will never forget! Glad to report that Kikos seems fine this morning and is out in the field enjoying the sun with JDV, who also seems fine after his fall. Well done to all the folks at Fences Farm, and a special mention to 'Alice' and Rachel, who both won the Best Turned Out awards with JDV and Kikos respectively - thanks girls, it is much appreciated, and it makes us all very proud to see our boys looking fantastic in the paddock!
