Friday 3 December

It was -3 at Warwick for most of last night, but did dip to -6 at 6.30am. There is still a slight covering of snow, and the ground is still slightly frozen in places. That is the bad news - the good news is that it is due to remain above freezing from now until after racing, so there is a good chance the snow will have gone, and the frost will have come out of the ground. Omaruru will be declared for the Juvenile, and will hopefully build on his course and distance form of last time. I hope he gets the chance, as the forecast for Sunday night onwards is for it to return to the temperatures we have seen for the past week which will make things very tricky once again. Further freezing conditions will put Robo's run at Cheltenham and Bobby's spin at Linfield very much in doubt. Lingfield is under about 15 inches of snow, and even if it did thaw over the weekend, it would leave the ground probably unraceable. Cheltenham would have a chance if the snow thawed and the frost came out of the ground this weekend so that they could protect the track before the next bout of sub zero temperatures roll in. Good luck!
