Monday 21 March
The lack of news last week, was, unfortunately not due to me being at the festival, but actually being sat on a tractor! Day job has to be done! The racing last week was top class, with the good ground producing great races. I can think of no hard luck stories, and the festival produced a true test of a horses speed and stamina. It was good to see Alan Gibson on Saturday, who was up the gallops to see both his horses - Kikos and Important Business do two strong canters. Kikos is in great form, and IB is going well after giving us a bit of a scare last week, when he was slightly lame for a day or two.Luckily he seems A1 now so we can keep going with him. It will not be long before he is back at the races.Omaruru has settled in well at his holiday home with Michael and Fiona Kehoe, he has been joined by Grey Bobby, who will have a nice break and come back a stronger and more grown up horse next season. Both should be back in training at Fences Farm in July. Bobby Gee is no longer on pain killers, and is going around his box freely. The vet had him out very briefly last week, and did some tests, all of which went well.He will be x-rayed next week to see if they can see any fracture. at the moment it all looks good for him to return after a summer break.
