Sunday 25 September

The vote to name the new Ravenstone Partnership horse was held on Friday morning, and with 1 spoiled vote, the result was 5 for Smart Exit and 2 for the remainder - so the forms have been lodged with Weatherbys, and he will be called Smart Exit. Stuart rode him yesterday and he reported himself very happy with him, and said he though he was very nice. Also on Friday we had a bubble well and truly burst - Grey Bobby ran such a disappointing race at Worcester. His homework had been very good before the day, and judging by that we fully expected him to be in the first five, but as it was he was last to finish. We looked long and hard at the options on the way home and as we are not in the habit of wasting peoples money we decided that he was best off going to do another job, and we will look for a home for him in the point to point field. Colebrooke has come out of his race bucking and kicking and will be aimed at races at Chepstow on 8th October (which is quite a good heat) or Uttoxeter on 13th which may be the easier option. Smart Exit will be ready to run when the rain arrives, and Kikos is in such good form (he was bucking around his stable when we got back on Friday) he may well get an entry over 2m 4f at Huntingdon next Saturday. He could well be joined there by The Fonz, who may make his hurdling debut. On Friday we did see a very nice horse and have made measures to purchase it for a new joint ownership venture - more on that as the week goes on - and next week we hope to be looking at, and trying some well bred, unraced youngsters that are cantering and not far off a run for a new partnership in which there are only a couple of places left - let me know if you are intersted in joining in the fun! 07909 518902. The best news to finish the day with is that 'The Machine' Omaruru is expected back to Fences Farm tomorrow, something we are all thrilled about! He will be 2-3 months doing nothing, but will be in a small paddock etc, and hopefully we can be back on with him in late December ready for a Spring campaign.
