Tuesday 1 November
It's Tuesday morning, and we get to see what the handicapper thinks of the performances of the rated horses that ran last week. This week we looked with interest at his view of Colebrooke after he bolted in by 41 lengths last Thursday. Rated 101 before the race it was hard to judge just what he had done, but we reckoned on a mark in the mid 120's. So a bit of a shock to get a rise of 29lbs to 130!! This will make life tough, but if he is right we do have a very decent little horse on our hands for the winter! I think this mark makes him the joint third highest rated juvenile to have run this season, which is very exciting, but a bit like saying you are the best team in the FA Cup just before the draw is made for the third round!! There will be plenty of good horses to be unleashed from the top yards over the next few months, so it will be interesting to see how we match up come next spring! The good news from the handicapper is that he has dropped Kikos 1lb to 115 (mission accomplished) so that has worked out, and he is off on his holidays this week. E Major and Silver Wren seem fine after their runs yesterday.
