No joy for us at the sales this week. Firstly the horse that I really wanted, a Cape Cross colt that looked like another Omaruru was withdrawn, but in fairness he would have probably gone over budget as he had won his last two. The second one, a big colt by Pivotal from an outstanding family went way over budget. He had won his last race and gone up 10lbs, but that still only took him to a mark of 62 so I thought I had him valued about right, but this time someone thought different and we were unsuccessful. We will look privately in Ireland, and also go through the Brightwell catalogue at Cheltenham next week. Interesting fact - Colebrookes rise in the handicap of 29lbs was the biggest singular rise last week, of any horse, on the flat, over hurdles, or over fences!! I wonder if he will come down as quickly when he gets beaten????? Somehow I doubt it very much - after all it has taken us 6 m onths to get Kikos down 5lbs!! Let's hope Colebrooke is good for it!
