Thursday 1 December
Montegonian arrived yesterday, and had his first pop over a pole this morning! Stuart doesn't believe in hanging about, and an excited phone call from him before 8 o'clock confirmed that 'Montie' is a natural. For an 'easy' first morning at Fences Farm he just went for a hack round the farm with San Telm and they 'just happened' to find themselves in the jumps paddock! Odd that! Montie popped over a few poles and was in the words of Stuart,'Some jumper!' Loads to look forward to! The bad news from yesterday is that Jamie Moore has damaged his shoulder in a fall in Hereford and will be off games for a bit. A text from him last night confirmed that he would not be fit to ride Colebrooke at Fontwell next week, so a search for a replacement begins. This is a shame as Colebrooke and Jamie had struck up a good partnership, but I am sure there will be no shortage of jocks wanting to ride a 130 rated juvenile with course and distance form! The race at Fontwell looks like a good one at the entry stage, I was hoping to go to a nice quiet little meeting, out of the way and secure another win but as it has turned out, Colebrooke isn't even top rated. We will see what the next few days brings - we may look at entering him forward as well. Please give me a call if you would like to discuss having a share in Montegonian - the fact that he seems a natural jumper is a massive plus, and with his size and physique he could be very smart at the jumping game!! 07909 518902 or info@nickbrownracing.co.uk
