Tuesday 22 May

Saturday night we went to the Broom Village Spring Ball. Organised by Dave Yates (Smart Exit, Omaruru) and 2 friends from the village it was the first one they have put together, and they did a fantastic job. A great night was had by everyone that went, and they raised a huge amount of money for 2 charities. They foolishly asked yours truly to do the auction for them, and although I officially retired from public appearances a couple of years ago, when I saw the lots that were on offer I didn't hesitate to dust off the gavel! The lads had done a fantastic job of getting some top lots together including a weeks stay in a holiday cottage in the Summer Isles, a villa in Portugal for a week, Twickenham tickets and a host of other top items! I also popped in the last share in Kikos, and it was purchased by Mrs Mary Beresford, and we welcome her to Nick Brown Racing. It will be her first experience of ownership, but is something she has wanted to do for a long time. Mary will not have long to wait as she should have her first runner on Friday evening when Kikos goes to Towcester. All in all they have made nearly £4,000 for the causes, and I fully recommend you book your tickets for next year as it really is a top do!!
