Thursday 24 January
The forecast says more snow!! But thankfully a rapid thaw after it arrives so it will not be about long! The next problem will be very testing conditions on the tracks, but the plan is to keep making entries as the ground can change dramatically between entry and raceday. The one of ours this effects the most is Tannerman. T continues to have entries - the latest of which is Leicester (Weds, and will be in Towcester next Thurs), but will not run on Heavy gound. He has proven he handles soft, so that is not a problem. There are of course horses that handle testing conditions including Colebrooke who has entries in both Taunton and Leicester next week, we will take a look at each race and find the best opportunity for him. San Telm has run out of races for a week or so but will have entries from early February onwards. Smart Exit still seems to be going the right way, and when they can get a proper piece of work into him they will be able to say if he will be OK for Huntingdon in a couple of weeks. Benefit Cut seems to be doing very well on his short break, and feels very well. He has had a chnge of regime and it seems to be doing him the world of good - he will be back out again when the ground has dried up as soft ground is no good for him!
