Uncalled For & Unjustified!

As you can probably guess I am not a happy bunny this morning! As usual, at 8.00am every Tuesday morning, the handicapper publishes his rating adjustments for the horses that ran (Saturday- Saturday) last week. With a few runners last week, it was with great interest that I logged on this morning. Tannerman ran in a 0-95 handicap hurdle last Monday, and ran well to be 3rd - beaten over 4 lengths, we were pleased with the run, but he was beaten fair and square - so I am very annoyed that the handicapper has seen fit to raise him 1 lb! This may not seem a big hike, but it means a great deal. Ted is now not eligible for 0-95 handicaps ( a grade in which he has still not won) and has to go up a grade to 0-100. This just seems too harsh! Why not give him a chance of winning in the grade in which he is running rather than forcing him to go up a grade?? We will have a word with the handicapper and see if he will have a rethink! Genny Wren who was a brave second on the same day has gone up 2lbs which is fair enough as this keeps her in the same grade, but also takes into account the fact that she ran well (No problem with this)! Smart Exit who was put up 5lbs to a mark of 110 last week, has been dropped the 5, back to 105 after his run in Huntingdon last Thursday which looks like a sensible move. If we can't get him to drop Ted that pound, he will have to skip his targets at Southwell as they were both 0-95's and we will have to have a rethink! I will keep you all posted! San Telm has entries in Haydock and Wincanton at the weekend with Wincanton looking the favourite at the moment. Colebrooke was checked over by Brett The Vet yesterday and will undergo further treatment for an injury to his hind quarters in about 10 days, after which they will be able to crack straight on with him. His problem is something they feel has been niggling at him for a while, and the vet is very confident that there will be a significant improvement in him after the treatment!
