Wednesday 13 February
Changes could well be the order of the day. As I may have mentioned yesterday I was pretty angry that poor old Tannerman had been raised 1 lb, therefore putting him up a grade, which I thought was harsh considering he had finished third last time out and had failed to win in his previous grade! So, with a bit of luck I will hear why he has put him up today. Changes could well be afoot at the weekend as well, this time on the jockey front. The plan is to go to Wincanton with San Telm for two reasons. Firstly it looks like the weaker race, and secondly, with the ground at both Haydock and Wincanton looking like being Heavy, it seems the right thing to do to step ST up just 2 furlongs to 2m 6f rather than right up to 3 miles. If it is Wincanton then we look like having a change of jockey, because as it stands at the moment it would appear that his regular pilot Tom O'Brien will be in Haydock to ride in the Grand National Trial. We have made enquiries about a replacement and we should have a good idea later today who will be in the plate.
