Thursday 12 April
Smart Exit made his chasing debut in Fontwell this afternoon. Unfortunately overnight rain had turned the ground very testing which we were trying to avoid, and the race, over 3m 2f was a real test. Exit jumped really well, but he did struggle in the ground but was still good enough to finish 16 lengths behind 2 very decent sorts. Jamie gave him a great ride, and never stopped kicking and squeezing, he reported that Exit jumped like a buck and would win his share of chases. Unfortunately the day took a bit of a turn for the worse after the run as on the way back to the winners enclosure Exit lashed out and caught Stuart in the leg resulting in a nasty gash (and a very green Stu). I am pleased to report that Exit came off the lorry in slightly better shape than Stu, who is now off to A&E to get a few stitches! We wish him a speedy recovery! I will post here tomorrow evening to update you all on the patients condition!
