Thursday 2 May

As many of you will know by now, when it comes to horses careers I always use the school analogy. Breaking in is primary school, rebroken and ridden away the next year is secondary school, and when they start their pre training proper - that is senior school. Last night Michael took our 3 yr old filly (by Tobougg out of Forest Pride) over to the yard of Jamie Goss who will break her and get her going. This filly is from a lovely family (many owned by Trevor Hemmings) and her dam has bred 8 runners, 6 of whom have won, 2 at the highest level. Even one of the siblings that failed to win, managed to finish second in an Ascot Bumper - so you can imagine we are keen to get this one going!! Michael reports Omaruru to be in great order, and enjoying the sunshine - he is another I can't wait to get going with again. Tara Dancer looks like being back to Fences Farm early next week, as her arrival needs to be tied in with the movement of some other horses. San Telm is out in the summer grazing at Fences Farm, and Smart Exit, Omaruru and Colebrooke will all lay out together over the summer. The quest for a replacement Ted continues, only gone through a fraction of the horses in the catalogue, and getting calls about would be candidates every day - one thing is for sure, we intend to be trading up, and getting a better grade of horse, so we could be going to some nice meetings over the course of the next season - exciting times - and all for just £20/week with Tara Dancer to whet the appetite in the mean time!!
