Thursday 13 June

It is getting ever nearer that summers evening in June when we sit back in the sun and enjoy something quintessentially English - a cricket match. On the evening of Friday June 28th a Nick Brown Racing XI will play an Eversholt XI at one of the most picturesque village grounds in the country. The evening is run in aid if The Injured Jockeys Fund, and as ever we are very grateful to our hosts for having us and fielding a side against us. There will be the usual Hog Roast (supplied by Stuart Hunter's Crackling Fayre) and all in all it is a very good night, with plenty of beers and fun to be had. As mentioned in these pages a couple of weeks ago, we try and get as many of the Jockeys that have ridden for NBR and the yard, to come along and meet the club members and owners, and this year we look to have a rally good turn out. Brendan Powell was the first to step up to the plate - and he wants to play a bit of cricket as well. Jamie and Josh Moore hope to get along from their bases on the south coast, and Tom O'Brien is delighted to have been asked and will make the long trek from the South West to be with us! Tom Bellamy will hopefully be coming along with his father, Robert, who is clerk of the course at Towcester. I hope to be adding to the list in the next week or so!! All we need is the weather - and if we get a nice evening we look sure to have a top night! All Owners and Club members are welcome, let's try and break the attendance record this year. Could those of you that are intending on coming please let me know, so that I know not to contact you with a reminder next week!! On the horse front - Amistress has 2 entries in Stratford next Tuesday, and will, today, be entered in a mares race in Uttoxeter next Wednesday. A decision as to her final target will be made when all the opposition have been assessed.
