Monday 17 June

I had a stroke of luck on Saturday - As there is not too much going on at the yard at the moment,I decided to skip first lot and head over after breakfast, and in doing so I managed to miss a rain 'shower' of biblical proportions and remain dry! It was nice and sunny when I got there. It did mean that I missed Tara Dancer exercise, but Stuart says he is very happy with her. She is doing one and a half canters now, and is looking fantastic in both her coat and condition. Stuart said the thing that pleases him most this year, compared with last year, is her willingness to pick up the bridle and get on with things. It is a clear indication that she was just too weak and green last year, and that turning her away for 12 months has been the right thing to do! Her work will increase gently for the next 3 weeks until she is ready to go a bit quicker. Royal Ascot this week and the main phase of our ad campaign rolls into gear - could be busy! The Racing Post have kickstarted the media hype this morning by having a group of Jockeys hareing around London! Looked fun and got them all over Twitter! Looking through some old photos, and I found this one of Omaruru winning in Newbury - it seems a long time ago now, but I am sure he will be well worth waiting for - remember we christened him 'The Machine' before he had his nasty (and near terminal) bout of colic. His work had been very impressive and I can't wait to see him back at Fences Farm in the next week or two. There are still shares available to purchase in him, and I am sure that he will be going to some very nice places this winter!! Give me a call on 07909 518902/01234 771940 or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk Amistress is entered this week - a close eye will be kept on the weather forecast!! And we will have news on Mrs Robesons 2 Royal Ascot runners later in the week!
