Tuesday 25 June

Alan Garratt, part owner of Omaruru, was on the phone this morning to get an idea of numbers for the Cricket on Friday. I have been getting the numbers so that Stuart Hunter of Crackling Fayre can bring us an appropriately proportioned pig, Alan, who is 'Mr Eversholt CC' was checking numbers so he can get the appropraite number of barrells of beer in!! The weather looks set fair - and we look like getting a fabulous turnout! New faces are always welcome, just get in touch to let us know you will be there and I will keep an eye put for you and introduce you to some folks! The Jockeys are looking forward to seeing you all, Brendan Jr is keen to play, Tom O'Brien is keen NOT to play - being Irish, he has never played the game and has no idea of the rules! Sam Jones is going to be there this year - but I'm not sure we want him to play this year. His last appearance resulted in him dropping a sitter, and getting smashed on the knee and nearly crying! Josh Moore still hopes to be there, but brother Jamie is riding in France so will not make it.Tom Bellamy should be there with his father Robert. If we can gather anymore 'stars of the saddle' together we will! It looks like Stuart will be a non playing team member this year as he is hobbling around on a bad ankle this morning! Pleased to report that all the horses seem fine and it will not be too long before we are in full swing again. Tara Dancer is only 4-5 weeks off a run and I have found some suitable races for her - either over hurdles or in another bumper. Guest Of Honour will return to work in the middle of next month. San Telm will be in on the same day, his first engagement will be in a handicap hurdle, and there are 3 targets in October, the first of which is the 12th in Chepstow, followed by the 18th in Cheltenham, or if neither of those are good for him, we will have a look at Aintree the weekend after. He seems on a very workable mark and we will look to exploit this before we head him down the Novice Chase route! Smart Exit will enjoy a longer break, and he will come back to work at the end of July, and will start off in the soft ground of the late Autumn in handicap chases where he will excel!!
