Our thoughts this morning are with Brian Toomey. Brian suffered a crashing fall in Perth last night and was taken to hospital in Dundee with serious head injuries. Brian is a great lad, always smiling, with more than a word at all times. Based in the North with Kevin Ryan he has been plying his trade up there for the majority of the last 3-4 seasons, and has got his claim down to 3 lbs. We first met Brian shortly after he came over from his native Ireland, and began working for trainer Brendan Powell when Sam Jones was flying through the ranks for the yard.He began his career as an amateur, and rode a winner for us at Fakenham on Mattaking, on a cold New Years Day! We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Yesterday was busy - we were delighted to have the opportunity to show a new face around Fences Farm before heading down to Michael and Fionas to have a look at the 3yr old filly by Tobougg, out of Forest Pride. I had not seen her myself, since she returned from being broken in about 3 weeks ago, and I have to say even I was impressed. She looks fantastic, and is a definite bumper filly for next spring - there will be no waiting around for her. She is correct and strong, and moves beautifully! She has a wonderful outlook on life - taking everything in whilst not being ditzy with it. From a fantastic jumping family that features top performers Our Ben, and Scavenger as her half brothers I think she represents fantastic value at £2,200 per 10% share, with no monthly costs to pay until she comes into training later this year, when they will be £200/month.She will be aimed at a bumper in the spring before a tilt at the Listed Mares Bumper at Aintree's Grand National meeting.
