Stuart and I were rather spoilt last night. We were treated to dinner by Benefit Cut's owners Terence Jenner and Howard Cooke along with Terence's Racing Manager/Son In Law, Martyn Fowkes. A very generous gesture, given as a thankyou for the efforts that were put in to the sourcing and training of BC. We were wined and dined at The Malting House in Stoke Goldington, where we enjoyed a great atmosphere, super food and drink,amid excellent company. I am no restaurant critic, but I can recommend The Maltings as a venue for a cracking good night out - www.themaltinghouse.com. Luckily the evening was not spoilt by a rowdy bunch of locals on a nearby table (Fellow NBR Members Ian & Ann Bostock and their party were in great form)!! Of course our conversation was dominated by talk of last seasons success with Benefit Cut, and also San Telm and Smart Exit in whom both Howard and Terence are shareholders as well. It was also a chance to discuss plans for the coming season - and we all felt that this winter could be very exciting for all 3 horses - with a few mentions of some very big meetings!! By the time we left, and the wine had flowed I think all three had won 2 Gold Cups and Three Champion Hurdles!! Thanks to Terence and Howard for a very enjoyable night out.
