The trouble with the future is that it quickly makes the present the past!! This leads to one problem in particular - in years to come, we will all talk of one AP McCoy, and regale our company with tales of his skill, power, bravery and determination - and they won't believe us!!! The Champ is a walking wonder! In my opinion he has been riding at the very height of his powers since returning from injury earlier in the summer. The recent break, and birth of his son, Archie, allied with Jason Maguire's lead in the table on his return seem to have spurred AP on to even greater levels!! Yesterday was a prime example - he rode 5 winners at 2 meetings - all pretty much low level affairs, but he gave of his all none the less. His ride on Temple Lord in the 2.00 O'clock in Worcester was incredible!! The horse was never travelling - it jumped awfully - was fourth as it jumped the last, yet McCoy still managed to galvanise a winning effort from the beast on the short run in from the back of the last - if you have not seen it - do try - it will amaze!! Stuart is currently in Newmarket, doing the second of his three modules to gain a trainers license. This one is a little more taxing then the first one - his first two days have involved Health and Safety, and Employment Law - he rang yesterday because he was bored!! He reported all the horses to be very well. Today Colebrooke, San Telm, Smart Exit, Omaruru and Guest Of Honour will all have their first canters. They have all been in a month - and they are getting fresh!! A new face arrived at the yard last week - a 3 yr old full brother to Aeschylus. Aeschylus was a bumper winner in Towcester last year, but has been off games since then with an injury - this exciting horse will return to Fences Farm in October, in the meantime his baby brother (pictured right), who is currently unnamed (Denis to his friends) will be readied for juvenile bumpers this back end.
