Benefit Cut was a class above his rivals in Market Rasen yesterday. He was a hot topic in yesterdays press, which in itself brings a bit of added pressure, but the Fences Farm team, and owners Howard and Terence need not have bothered! Sam Twiston Davies once again took the ride, and once again proved what a class act he is. He was supremely confident in the paddock, and the plan was carried out to the letter. Settling well in front BC just galloped and jumped his way to a facile 9 length victory. STD was delighted with him afterwards, and suggests that it will not be a biother for BC to step up in trip in the future (when required). We also feel that going left handed will see BC in a better light. (Just about the complete opposite to what the TV pundits were suggesting)!! BC is a very exciting chaser, and yesterday probably ran to a mark that would see him get a run in the 2m 4f Novice handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival, but to run he would have to have one more run between now and the first day of the meeting in just under 5 weeks, and BC is not the sort of horse that you can do that with. He will be minded for the next couple of weeks and then we will have a look for another race for him away from the spotlight. If all goes well, he could be a nice one to take to the Punchestown Festival instead! Thanks go to Howard and Terence for trusting me to find them a nice horse, and the Fences Farm team to produce it for them. BC seems fine this morning, and they can now start dreaming!! Colebrooke now needs to step up to the plate in Doncaster tomorrow. back over hurdles, and with blinkers reapplied he needs to show us that he still has a bit of fight in him! If he is re-energised by the return to the smaller obstacles he will run very well!
