Friday 14 March
Gold Cup day has arrived, but before I go into that I think we saw a future winner of racings Blue Riband event yesterday. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with More Of That in the World Hurdle! If this horse stays sound, he can surely only improve - he has only had a handful of starts, and could well be a world beater! The Gold Cup today looks to be a match between Silviniaco Conti, and Bobs Worth - it should be a match up to savour. A good result yesterday for our Club members, who saw Southfield Theatre frank their horses form in some style. The Paul Nicholls trained Southfield Theatre was beaten by a flared nostril in the final of the Pertemps hurdle (off of 147), and was behind our Dawn Commander in a jumpers bumper in Kempton off level weights (and DC was not fully wound up)!! Gives us a bit of hope for Aintree!! I must be mad, but I am considering buying a second 'Club' horse for next season! I have, in fac,t made some enquiries about a couple,BUT, I will only go ahead if I get the required level of commitment from prsopective members - so if you fancy having a fun time out, and going to the races as an owner please register your interest either by phone or email - if we get enough folks to have a go I will get a new horse. Costs are set at £500/4% share + £20/week all inclusive training fee. Hopefully we can get something going - who knows you could be in Cheltenham next year - the current Club members will be off to Aintree in a few weeks after all!!
