Friday 2 May
A good start to the new season - with Ereyna (seen at the rear of the bunch, on the left, last Saturday) winning very nicely in Towcester last night. This homebred daughter of Derby winner Erhaab was making just her second start in handicap company, and stayed on really well up the testing Towcester hill to register her first success. She did the job very well, and looks up to winning again off of a revised mark, if the handicapper is not too hard on her! The each way double sadly went west, as Inca Dove got a horror passage in the concluding bumper and could only finish mid field. She is better than that! The win puts Mrs Robeson 21st in the embryonic trainers table, and a quick look at the jockey standings sees Jamie Moore on top, with Josh in second - if the title were decided on the basis of being 'a good bloke' - that is how they would stand at the end of the season!! Today Genny Wren makes the trip to Bangor. GW has had a little wind op since her last run, just to add to the myriad of proceadures she has endured during her career, so back over hurdles she could go well, but it is a leap of faith to be backing her!! Dawn Commander is still on course for next week, and with the horses obviously in good form I for one can't wait!! Keep your fingers crossed for the weather!! Unfortunately not enough of the wet stuff fell on Uttoxeter overnight, and with their ground still Good TO Firm, San Telm will stay at home - he will have an entry in Market Rasen next Friday.
