Monday 12 May
Yesterday was a tough gig!! It started with a pretty large hangover from a very good get together on Saturday night! Smart Exit was in good form for his last run of the season in Plumpton, and it was going to be interesting how he handled a bit better surface. All was going well until we got to Junction 9 of the M1 where the lorry suffered a rear tyre blow out. So off at 10, and over an hours wait to get it replaced. I have to say it was a super service from Three Counties Tyres!! Off in time to get to Plumpton so on we tracked. Made the racecourse in good time, Lovely sunny weather (still had a headache), and Smart Exit looked a picture in the paddock. Plenty of pace in the race, so Josh tucked in behind and was really happy with SE until a blunder at the last down the back on the second circuit decanted him! A very unfortunate UR - That's Racing!! All back safe and sound that's the main thing, and SE can now head off on his hols. The end to a pretty testing day!! Friday winner San Telm will also head off on his hols, he has had a long time in work. Maypole Lass runs in Towcester tonight, and as there was a valid reason for a poorer show last time, she looks overpriced and should go well!! Dawn Commander is entered in Aintree on Friday evening.
