I nip over to Norway for 5 minutes and it all happens!! As you will all be aware, Dawn Commander did it again!! A cracking winner in Aintree on Friday evening. Running off of a career high mark of 135, he put in a fantastic display to win by 6 lengths! A superb performance under top weight. Yet again Josh proving what a top class jockey he is with a very intelligent ride. I see a few of the Owners made the awful Friday afternoon trip up the M6 - but it was worth it!! Pleased to report that DC has come out of the race in fine fettle. The handicapper has seen fit to raise him a further 7lbs this morning to a heady 142 (Not bad for a bargain buy)! Which does sort of muck up the original plans, which were to continue to run him through the summer. Unfortunately all bar 2 of the staying hurdles through the summer have a ceiling of 140, so he won't get in them. There is nothing to stop us waiting for them, but it does seem like a long time between drinks! We will also discuss the option of going back over fences, but I have to admit, I would rather stick to hurdles now that the little man is in the form of his life and his confidence is sky high! The likely scenario is that he has a wee break now, and will return for some nice handicaps in the early Autumn. We have to do what is right for DC! Also in Aintree, Colebrooke ran another cracker for Ben and Jay to be third. He stuck to his task well, and has been raised a pound for his effort. He also continues in good heart. I have not been idle while away, and have continued to enquire about possible targets for the new club horse. We will be at the sales tomorrow, but if we come home empty handed, we have back up plans - hopefully something will be sourced by the weekend!
