Wednesday 16 July

Yesterday I made a quick, mid afternoon, stop in The Bridge in Shefford. Not, as most of you will be thinking, for a quick pint - although recent temperatures did make it very appealing - but to see Mark and Fiona Beal, who are the Landlord and Landlady. Mark and Fiona have been members of Nick Brown Racing since last Autumn, and have enjoyed some serious fun with their horse Dawn Commander. They are now firmly bitten by the bug, and got in touch to say they would like a share in Cloonacool as well!! So I popped in yesterday to seal the Beal deal, and we wish them the best of luck with their new boy!! Hopefully he will be as lucky as DC! Speaking with Ben today - Colebrooke has come out of his race on Sunday fine. The upshot of it all is that Colebrooke was just in too hot a race, and he could not handle the step up in grade. Harry also felt that the ground was as quick as he wanted, so they will now give him a bit of a break and bring him back later in the year. The next runner from Fences Farm looks like being Ereyna who will have an entry next week in a 3m Mares handicap hurdle in Bangor.
