Today is the centenary of the start of World War I, please spare a thought for the brave men, who fought and died for our freedom. Also a time to remember the near 1 million horses that were lost in the conflict. Back to business and it was a busy and fun weekend. Once again it was great to welcome a host of new faces to Fences Farm. We had three of Cloonacool's new owners over to see him, and the yard for the first time - I think they all enjoyed their visit, and were impressed with both Cloonacool and the set up. Also in on Saturday morning was Terence Jenner. Terence is co-owner of Benefit Cut, and also involved in Smart Exit and popped in with his daughter Claire, Son In Law Martyn, and Grand Daughter Rachel to see how his 2 horses were after their holidays. Benefit Cut looks in great order, and Terence can't wait to see him back racing! Yesterday Ereyna went north to Market Rasen. Only 6 runners in her race, but a competitive affair. The step up to 3 miles would suit, but the sharp track was considerably different to Towcester where she was so impressive in winning her previous race. Yesterday, she did everything right, travelling and jumping sweetly until the lack of a recent run just caught her out. This outing should put her spot on for a crack at a 3 mile Mares handicap hurdle in a few weeks time! Smart Exit has now joined the rest of his buddies, and is back in his box at Fences Farm. He has summered at the farm of one of his owners, Ann Garratt, and has once again benefitted from a few weeks of 'Ringtail grass'. He looks super well!
