Tuesday is handicap ratings day - and today we expected to see 2 new numbers - one for Maypole Lass for her very close second last week, and one for Cloonacool for his win. ML is up 4lbs for getting beaten a nose, and the handicapper hasn't given C a mark despite his Stratford win being (a) a win!! and (b) his third run in a hurdle race! We will enquire, but if he doesn't give him a mark next week he will have to have another run in a novice with a penalty, which to be fair, would be no bad thing, as he is possibly not quite ready for the hurly burly of handicap company yet, and another run in a novice, even with his penalty may pay dividends in the future. On a plus point - the ground looks to be perfect for Mairise in Uttoxeter, and Brendan has been in this morning to have a sit on him over a hurdle. The ground also looks spot on for San Telm in Cheltenham - so he looks more likely to run there on Friday. On the right you will see the photos from Cloonacool's win in Stratford last week.
