Having reported that Benefit Cut was OK after his fall on Sunday, it was not such good news last night to hear that he wasn't quite so sound last night. Fortunately it appears as though he is just a little stiff as he is sound again this morning and after a few more days on the easy, he should be in a position to crack on again. As reported yesterday, Dawn Commander seems fine. Huntingdon have reported that they will water later this week if they need to, to maintain Good ground which will be fine for Cloonacool on Sunday. We will see which mares are declared in Uttoxeter tomorrow, and then get on the phone to the trainers of the other dangers in Maypole Lass's race before we decide where she goes next. Her owner, Ben Turner, is prepared to wait for the extra few weeks if we need to. Some sad news today involves Mairise. This gorgeous, and very exciting 3 yr old, made his debut for the newly formed KTDA Partnership a couple of weeks ago - but unfortunately he suffered a severe injury in the race that has ended his racing career. A very sad blow for his owners Dave and Claire Page, and Martin and Vincent Dunphy - Mairise was there first horse, and they were very excited about him as we all were. To just get a single run out of their first horse is the very worst of luck, but Mairise will be tended and taken care of until he has recovered sufficiently to do another job. Hopefully when the dust settles they will become owners in the yard once again. On a better note - Tiger Lily is home - she is looking far better than when we last saw her on Friday, and although along with her arrival comes a great deal of care and management it is terrific to have her home. I can't thank vets, Libby Saville of Willows Veterinary Care in Newport Pagnell (and who rides out at Fences Farm), and Jamie McClement of Abington Park Veterinary Practice in Northamptonshire enough, as their skill and expertise mean that Tiger Lily should make a full recovery!! We are very grateful!
