Friday 16 January
After yesterday bombshell of the news of the sad passing of Mrs Robeson, we will try to return to some sort of normality. As most will know Stuart was due to take over the reins at Fences Farm later this month, and this is still very much the plan. In fact there was a BHA inspection at the yard on Thursday, which all went well, and they plan to issue Stuart with an interim license, pending the rubber stamping of his full license. So as far as the horse are concerned everything will carry on as normal, but we will miss the sight of a very enthusiastic old lady bombing around the farm on a quad bike - we will miss her. It is still the plan to add to the ranks with more syndicate horses, but the right horse is not easy to buy at the moment. There are a few sales towards the end of the month, and we can hopefully get a few bids away at them! Stuart and I will sit down tomorrow and go through plans for the horses - the next week is quite quiet, but he hopes to hit the ground running the week after - hopefully he can make a winning start to his training career proper!! I know I speak for us all when I say that we wish him the very best of luck, and that judging by the results that have been achieved from Fences Farm in the last few years - he is sure to make a very good job of it. One thing is for sure - the standards will definitely not slip! Stuart will also be actively looking for more horses and owners, so if you would like to join a small friendly yard, that are currently churning out winners at a strike rate of over 20%, please get in touch!
