Monday 23 March
It has been a busy few days. Friday morning, it was great to see John and Sue Spiller drop in to have a look at their girl Native Princess. NP has been on box rest for a month after suffering a small fracture in a fetlock, but she is in rude health, and is now back on the walker twice a day. She looks really well considering she has been off games for a few weeks. It was John and Sues first visit since before Christmas due to their girl being off games, so they came laden with Christmas chocolates and Easter prezzies as well - they tell me they went down well - the girls managed to hoover them all up before I got a look in!! On the girls behalf - thank you John & Sue! The vet was in late last week to scope a few. Benefit Cut was very good and will head to Warwick on March 30th. Smart Exit was also clean as was Dawn Commander who will now step up in his work. Over lunch we had a surprise visit from Cloonacool member Roy Holland who dropped in for a cuppa with his daughter Karen. Roy went down the yard to see his boy, and also decided to have a share in Bold Conquest! So we hope that his new purchase can be as successful as Cloonacool has been for him! After lunch it was a pleasure to show Oliver Harris and his friend Adrian around Fences Farm for the first time. Oliver had been in touch regarding Bold Conquest, and it didn't take long for them both to take a share in him! Once again we wish them the very best of luck with BC! The busy times continued on Saturday morning, when we welcomed members of the Bedford and District Racing Club to Fences Farm. Although it was a bit chilly we had a super morning, and they got to see a really got bit of work by all the horses out second lot. Smart Exit caught the eye, and seems to be right back to his best. He passed one of the two in front of him and joined in with another at the front - so he seems to be well! He will have an entry in Warwick on the 30th! In behind Dawn Commander looked awesome. He travelled beautifully in a 3 parts piece of work, and this week his wound held up really well. He will have his work upped now, and looks on course for Aintree! Due to the fact that he had a little fit at Cheltenham, the last time he went to the races Stuart has cleverly decided to take him to Towcester tomorrow morning for a racecourse gallop. This will be a good way of getting him off the farm, without the stress of a full race day, and hopefully remind him that he can behave when he leaves Fences! Bold Conquest will join him in a racecourse gallop tomorrow.Today Reyno goes to Towcester for real, and is fit and well. He is a bit of a character, and if he puts his best foot forward today he will go well - but that can't be a hundred percent guaranteed!! Hopefully he does himself justice! All in all Bold Conquest has found himself with 5 new owners over the course of the last 4 days! So if you are at all interested in a share then please get in touch quickly as they are going fast!! 07909 518902 - or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk
