Friday 17 April

After a busy few days it is time for a catch up. Wednesday Benefit Cut made the trip to Cheltenham - it was a warm day, but it was an even hotter race. Benny has always been far too keen for his own good. He is actually not a very fast horse, but when he has been running like he has in the past, he has got away with it by almost running on pure adrenalin. The rev counter was always in the red! He has found this style of racing tough this season due to the company he has had to keep after a successful novice season. Life is always hard for second season novices! The application of a hood has had the desired effect, and he settles much better now - unfortunately this has shown up his lack of gears, and after travelling and jumping well (apart from the tricky fence at the top of the hill) he could only stay on one paced to finish fifth. It was a superb run, and Brendan, who gave him a super ride, was pleased with him. This was a Grade 2 handicap, and the race was run 2 seconds faster than standard, the only race on the card to dip under standard, and it was over 4 seconds quicker than the other chases on the day!! He has come out of the race in good order, and will have a few days off in the sunshine. Dawn Commander is in good form, and will be entered today for a decent handicap in Warwick next Thursday. Native Princess has resumed gentle cantering and is in great heart. Often they can lose condition when on box rest, but she has kept her figure well, and should be ready to run again in about 6 weeks! Maypole Lass worked great in the week, and has an entry in Kempton on Monday - but that race looks pretty hot and she may be forced to wait a day or two. Bold Conquest is in fantastic form, and so he should be! The form book suggests his debut for us was his best ever hurdles run, and his chase form was franked again on Wednesday, when the third horse from his last run in Ireland came out and won!! He will run at the start of next month - and very limited shares are available in this exciting horse! He looks as though he will be visiting the winners enclosure very soon!! Please have a look at him on the For Sale page and get in touch for more details (07909 518902) info@nickbrownracing. Keep an eye on here for a very exciting opportunity to buy into one of the best pieces of form from the Irish Point To Point field this season!! We are very fortunate to have secured a gorgeous horse for the future - he will arrive at Fences Farm over the next couple of days, when details will be released, along with photos and price etc. He will only be available for syndication for 2 weeks, after which he will be offered on the open market as a whole - so if you are interested then please get in touch - when you see him you will adore him!!
