A Big Hit!
Our very own version of The Big Bash on Friday evening. Our annual charity cricket match, kindly hosted by Eversholt CC. This year for the first time in three years we managed to get a game, although the weather did its best to spoil it again with a downpour of biblical proportions prior to play. The match was shortened to 15 overs a side. A great turn out from owners, members and their friends and family. A great chance to get together and meet up. It is lovely to see everyone get the chance to chat and have a relaxed social evening. Thanks to Brendan Powell and Josh Moore who made the trip. it took Josh 4 1/2 hours to get there! The match went in our favour, with some great bowling from all of our bowlers who restricted the home side to 115, and each chipping in with a wicket or two. Our openers then proceeded to make short work of the total, and despite a few wickets falling late on we made the total with a couple of overs to spare. Brendan Powell received the Man Of The Match award, despite being out for a second ball duck - it was the effort that counts! Thanks to everyone who turned out to both play and support, and make the evening such a great success. £600 was raised for the Injured Jockeys Fund. A few thick heads yesterday, but great to see Claire and her daughter Jess at Fences Farm. Jess took one of her Mums horses, Bold Conquest for ride around Fences Farm, with Bev on Christmas Twenty. Jess works for one of the countrys leading Dressage riders, travelling all over the world to competitions - she found riding a racehorse slightly different to the big dressage horses she is used to!!
