England may have effectively left the World Cup scene this weekend, but it was a welcome return for one of our own! San Telm had been off games since last October, when he returned form a run in Cheltenham with more staples and stitches in him than you can imagine - it was a real struggle for Stuart and the team to get him back on track, and in the end the only course of action left to them was to give him a long rest. Yesterday he rewarded everyones patience when finishing third in a hot little race in Uttoxeter. His form is rock solid, and he was backed into 100/30 favourite. Sam Twiston Davies took the ride, and with the cheekpieces on for the first time he ran a corker. He travelled with all of his old verve and enthusiasm, and looked all over the winner approaching 2 out. Sam thought it was a case of how far - but just at that point, the lack of a recent run took its toll and he tired rapidly to finish third. It was great to have this lovelt little horse back - and the thinking is, that he will be bang there next time with this run under his belt!! Welcome back San Telm. He cam away with a slight speedy cut that was attended to by the racecourse vets, and all seems fine with him this morning. Back at home, and Native Princess is fine, her cut is healing in super quick time, and she will not be held up. Smart Exit is in fine form, and appears back to his best, after being under the weather for most of last season. He has earned an entry in Chepstow on Saturday, and is an intended runner as long as the ground is no quicker than Good, and with rain forecast in South Wales, it is looking good on that front. Christmas Twenty, who rather blotted his copy book in Warwick last week, is spending all day long in the field. He comes in over lunch time for a bite to eat, and goes back out again. He seems relaxed, and needs to put some weight back on - the field is the best place for him! Stuart is talking to the vets today, and he is likely to begin a whole course of treatment for stomach ulcers - this will be costly, but if this is his problem, it needs to be sorted out! Stuart is collecting Dawn Commander and Gosel from the vets today after their wind ops. Both have come out of them fine, and will convalesce back at Fences Farm. Man of the moment, Cloonacool is in top form, and all roads lead to Ascot on October 31st - the day of the rugby World Cup Final - at least we won't need to be rushing around to see that now that England are not going to be there!!
