Sunday 1 November
A costly mistake 3 out ended all chances of Cloonacool triumphing in Ascot yesterday. He rallied to get back into his position, and in fairness was still travelling the best of all approaching 2 out- he was then found short of room after the flight. He jumped the last well, and stayed on the best of all from the back of the last. This horse has class, and tried his level best - he will resume the winning ways soon. Yesterdays race was not run to suit, as they didn't go a quick enough gallop, and it is hard to find an engagement that will guarantee a strong pace. He has an entry in the Greatwood Hurdle in Cheltenham in 2 weeks, and could go there. We will also look at the programme book for Novice Chases and see how that route pans out, there are options in Leicester and Kempton. The Gerry Fielden hurdle at Newbury's Hennessey meeting also comes into play. We will look to keep all options open. I am pleased to say that Cloonacool seems fine this morning. A case of 'nearly' yesterday - but all of his owners had a super day, and he will be taking them to some nice places in the future!! The new boy, purchased at the sales last week was ridden for the first time yesterday after we had left for Ascot. He went for a walk and a trot around the farm with Kayla, and Jo, who rode him reported him to be a lovely ride, with a super athletic walk and trot. He should have really - he is the half brother to a horse that was second in the Derby - and went on to win the Breeders Cup Turf, and be Champion Older Horse in America! This lad has all the attributes to be a super Juvenile Hurdler, with size and scope to go even further as a 4 yr old and beyond! He has his whole career ahead of him - please give me a call on 07909 518902, or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk for further details!
