Monday 22 February
Saturday morning and good to see Julia (Smart Exit) and John (Bold Conquest and Sneaking Budge) over for second lot. SE actually had a day off as he had a visit from the chiropractor on Friday, a regular visit to keep him supple and he was ridden this morning and is fine. Third lot, it was a pleasure to welcome Steve Winter over for his first visit, accompanied by wife Gabrielle and son Thomas. Steve was paying his first visit to se both Sneaking Budge, in whom he has a share, and new boy Visible Light, in whom he has also taken a share. SB is still just being led out a few times a day, and will be fine with time. VL did a swinging piece with Bold Conquest and went very nicely indeed. He looks like ticking all the boxes. Christmas Twenty missed his Saturday exercise as he had a foot abscess, but again, he was out again this morning and is fine. Cloonacool, entered in the Pendil Novices Chase in Kempton on Saturday worked with Wolf Of Windlesham, who's owner Mr Lawrence was also in to see him. Both worked well. The entries for the Pendil closed today, but with just 6 entered (top rated 145), it will reopen until 10.00am tomorrow. Cloonacool is in fine form! Bold Conquest is very much on course to make his second start over fences for us in the Cambridgeshire National on March 6th, an will be joined in Huntingdon by Christmas Twenty, who will have entries in a maiden and a handicap hurdle. San Telm gave himself a bash last week, but is back on track this morning, and will work on Wednesday, and have entries going forward. Cloonacool will be scratched from both his engagements at The Cheltenham Festival tomorrow, and we will stick to the plan and go to Ascot at the end of March if all is well after Saturday. This morning it was good to see David and Tim, they have a share each in Christmas Twenty, and have, as of this morning increased their string by taking the remaining 3 shares in Visible Light. We thank them for their continued support, and wish them the very best of luck with VL - he will be running in 3-4 weeks. Brett the vet in this morning, and he was very happy with Sneaking Budge - as he said once again - it's just time!
